£35m Manchester United target Marek Hamsik has 'no intention of joining'

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik has reportedly stated he wants to stay at the club.

Manchester United will hope their next manager will be able to help them sign the very best players in European football.

One of those is Slovakian international midfielder Marek Hamsik, who last week was linked with a huge potential switch to the Red Devils.

Napoli's president responded by saying the coveted star was 'absolutely not' for sale, and apparently the player has no intention of moving either.

TMW report that FIFA agent Fulbio Marruco has spoken personally to Hamsik, and has been told he wants to stay in Naples.

"I spoke with Hamsik and his intention is to to remain in blue. The Slovakian is adjusting to the new approach. Certainly, the performances are lower than when it was coached by Walter Mazzarri, but at the same time he believes Benitez is appreciating more and more."

It certainly sounds as though Hamsik will not be going anywhere, but also - that he is not entirely happy with how the season has gone under the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager.

Napoli may be third in Serie A, but on 68 points they are a substantial way behind second place Roma on 82 and leaders Juventus on 90 points.

Hamsik has six goals and five assists this season, some way off the 11 goals and 14 assists he contributed last season.

If at the end of 2014/15 he feels Benitez is not enabling him to flourish, the 26-year-old may just decide to change his mind and become a more viable option for Manchester United.
