Barcelona are reportedly willing to let go of Cristian Tello for £8 million. This could be a deal which defines Rodgers as he prepares for life in the Champions League.
According to Talksport, Barcelona winger rhristian Tello will be allowed to leave the Nou Camp in the summer, if they receive offers in excess of £8 million.
The fleet-footed winger has constantly been on the fringes of first-team life at Barcelona, despite being touted for stardom at an early age.
It's fair to say, any player who shows promise in Barca's famous La Masia academy quickly gets a reputation as a potential world-beater. However, in Tello's case he has proven in spells he could one day fulfill his potential. In fact, he did enough to earn a call-up to the full Spanish national side prior to the season starting.
This deal in particular could be one for Liverpool supporters to keep their eye on, especially as it could define their next movements in the transfer market all together.
Liverpool, at the very least, are guaranteed a spot in the Champions League next season. A prestige which can undoubtedly attract all the world's most proven players. Which Rodgers hasn't been able or hasn't been interested in doing previously.
In the first two years of his spell, he has permanently signed 11 players and to say all of them were successful would be a lie.
He has took relatively inexpensive gambles, which have had a habit of either paying off handsomely or completely failing to step up.
The likes of Oussama Assaidi, Fabio Borini and Iago Aspas have been far from successful, whereas Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho have flourished.
Cristian Tello is currently in a situation much like the latter three players previously mentioned were.
They were all showing promise, or at least had shown promise, but were struggling to get the game time to prove themselves.
It begs the question, will Rodgers stick with the same transfer and coaching plan that got him this far - or will he opt for the 'safer' more proven signings?
