Liverpool fans furious with Moyes sacking on Twitter - 'Black armbands this weekend'

Liverpool Supporters

Liverpool fans have had some tongue in cheek comments to say about the sacking of David Moyes this morning.

Liverpool are closing in on a first league title since the 1989/1990 season and while they enjoy the current edge over arch rivals Manchester United, a new boss will be attempting to break down the Merseyside resurgence next season.

David Moyes was sacked as United manager this morning, which means Liverpool fans won’t be able to have a laugh at the Scot’s expense any further as their enemies mull over who to appoint this summer.

Moyes has routinely been the subject of mock up pictures, chants and banners all originating from Liverpool fans throughout the season.

The Scot’s departure is jokingly perceived as bad news because of the idea that United will now be more difficult to play against next season under a new manager.

A ‘David Moyes is a football genius’ banner was even unveiled during the Premier League win that Brendan Rodgers’ side enjoyed during the 3-0 victory at Old Trafford earlier this season.

In a way it’s probably disappointed some Liverpool fans that United haven’t shown more fight under Moyes as a Premier League title would have been a little sweeter if United were the side Liverpool were beating to the title.

Whoever does come in at United can hardly do a worse job and the current Premier League champions could enjoy similar fortunes to what Liverpool have basked in this season.

United won’t have extra European games to play next season if they finish seventh while Liverpool will be locked into what could be a thrilling Champions League campaign for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Some fans are furious over United’s decision to axe Moyes, taking to Twitter to vent their frustration. However, others see it as another reason to bathe in the misery and chaos which has surrounded Old Trafford for most of the year. Take a look.
