Chelsea morning news: Courtois to get new deal, Mourinho unworried about Torres past

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

The Daily Mail claims Thibaut Courtois is close to extending his contract with Chelsea.

The Belgian has been on loan away from Stamford Bridge for the past three seasons as he aims to take the number one slot at the West London club.

The extension is reportedly worth two-years with a pay increase on his current £30,000 per week deal.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he expects striker Fernando Torres to forget about his past ties with Atletico Madrid this evening.

Torres played for the Spanish club before he made the move into English football with former side Liverpool.

“He is a professional. I have no doubts that the minutes he will be on the pitch he will do everything for Chelsea given the professional that he is. He never hides,” said the boss.

The man himself has admitted uncertainty over his future at Stamford Bridge.

Torres is only thinking one game at a time as speculation continues to grow over where he could be playing his football next season.

“At this point I only think about the next game and I prefer to go game by game, a month can be very long,” he’s quoted by Goal.
