Social media post suggests Moyes WON'T axe Welbeck

Manchester United have dismissed rumours Danny Welbeck could leave the club via their Instagram account.

There are several reports floating around that Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.

However, the club posted a defiant message through their Instagram account, which suggests the forward won’t be axed.

The post shows a captured image of Welbeck scoring against Real Madrid in the Champions League last season, with a message that seems to contradict the idea that David Moyes sees him as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

“David Moyes has dismissed rumours linking Danny Welbeck with an exit from #mufc, saying: "I can only tell you he is really important – to me and to Manchester United," reads the message.

Welbeck has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur while there are sure to be several sides interested in him if his availability does become official after the World Cup.

However, the stats suggest that Moyes would be better off hanging onto him this summer; 22 appearances, nine goals and three assists.
