Roberto Mancini slams Man City's 'waste of talent' attacker

Samir Nasri

The Italian coach has stated that Samir Nasri has not lived up to his potential for club or country.

Much of Manchester City’s rise to Premier League prominence must be accredited to Roberto Mancini, who signed the bulk of the current Etihad Stadium squad.

However, the ex-City boss has slammed one of his former charges, calling Samir Nasri a waste of talent.

The Galatasaray trainer has stated that the French forward is unlikely to feature in the World Cup and has the ability to be much more of a threat to opposition than he is.

“Samir is a player who has incredible qualities but a productivity that bears no comparison with his talent,” Mancini told the Manchester Evening News.

“He didn’t understand that you always have to give your best.

“It really pains me. I did everything so that he’d come and he settled for the minimum. He’s a player who has the ability not to be a good player but to be a world-class player. What a pity that he won’t even play in the World Cup.”

Nasri has started 24 Premier League games for City this term, scoring six goals.

He has come in for criticism in his homeland after underwhelming performances for the French national side.
