David Moyes MUFC

#MoyesFilms was trending on Twitter across the United Kingdom on Monday, after Manchester United's defeat to Everton at the weekend.

Football fans across the country have once again revelled in another Manchester United defeat, this time on Twitter where they pitched suggestions for alternative film titles featuring the last name of manager David Moyes.

United lost their 11th game of the season on Sunday after Moyes’ former club Everton downed the Reds 2-0, courtesy of goals from Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas. The loss means United can no longer qualify for the Champions League next season, and risk missing out on European football all together in seventh place.

Weak performances and results this season have left the majority of fans directing the blame at manager Moyes, after a debut campaign riddled with failure.

Moyes has been heavily criticised in the press for his poor results, tactical approach and his signing of former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellani in the summer transfer window. The Belgian arrived at Old Trafford as Moyes’ only signing, after United paid a fee considered well over the odds of around £28m.

Fellani has struggled to produce the form required for the Premier League Champions, and is yet to score a goal in a United shirt.

High profile defeats to the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and most recently Everton have left the United faithful dismayed, and seemingly all other football followers united in mocking Moyes.

The latest Moyes-based humour arrived on Twitter on Monday, as #MoyesFilms began trending in the UK. Users put forward their suggestions of alternative names based on famous films, but instead ensuring they featured the surname of United’s manager.

Here are some of the best #MoyesFilms from Twitter on Monday.
