Chelsea latest: Striker’s £6.5m-a-year offer; Hazard travels to Madrid

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Stamford Bridge…

Chelsea face Atletico Madrid tomorrow night in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, and their on-loan goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, believes the Blues are the favourites to go through.

In quotes published by Goal after an interview with FIFA’s official website, the Belgian stopper said, “I really hope we can reach the final as we’re so close. (Chelsea) are the favourites but Barcelona were too.”

And we all know what happened there; so Jose Mourinho will be extremely wary of the current La Liga leaders and this season’s surprise package.

In other news, Eden Hazard has travelled to Madrid for tomorrow’s match, but teammate Samuel Eto’o is out injured according to a report from ESPN.

The Belgian play-maker was widely tipped to miss the first leg but it appears there is now a chance he could make it, which will be fantastic news for a side desperate to have as many of their best players available as possible for what is now their biggest match of the season…until the next one that is.

And finally, speaking of Eto’o, the Daily Mail reports that the striker has been offered £6.5million-a-year to play for Besiktas.

The paper claims the Turkish side have sent representatives to England to discuss terms with the Cameroon front-man, whose time at the Blues appears to be coming to an end.
