United morning news: 23-year-old tipped to leave; £25m Spaniard linked

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise £20million move for Manchester United front-man Danny Welbeck.

The Mirror claims Spurs' sources believe David Moyes’ side would be willing to do business for a player who features prominently for the outgoing champions – but rarely in his preferred striking position.

Spurs were previously linked with Javier Hernandez, but it now appears his United teammate is the player Tottenham want, with former target Romelu Lukaku reportedly heading for a side that has secured Champions League football.

The Sun also run a Welbeck story, claiming United fear the England international will quit Old Trafford this summer having grown “increasingly frustrated” by his lack of starts as a striker.

And finally, the Daily Star Sunday claims United and Manchester City are both keeping tabs on Pedro’s situation at Barcelona.

The player’s agent is quoted as saying that Pedro is not happy this season, and that he may be sold, with the report claiming a fee in the region of £25million may be enough to seal the deal – although we have our doubts regarding that one.
