'Are Liverpool's players really that much better than many in the Tottenham squad ? For me, the answer is a 'no'. But do the Liverpool players have the right team spirit and mental attitude - clearly, yes. And that's the big difference between the two teams this season. That's why, with just three Premier League games to go, Liverpool are on the verge of winning the ultimate domestic prize.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are going through the motions and ending yet another season of disappointment and underachievement. In my view, the attitude of the Tottenham squad is frankly poor, and it's clear that a number of individuals are looking at their next career move, rather than focusing on get it right on the pitch with their current team.
For all of Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood's shortcomings as a coach, he's a proven winner and he has every right to be exasperated at the attitude of the Spurs players. People criticise him for being outspoken and making comments in public about the team, but most of the current Tottenham squad have badly let themselves - and the fans - down this season. They need to stop hiding behind excuses and play as a team; play for each other and actually have the desire to succeed - that's what the current Liverpool team do, and that's why they are enjoying such a wonderful season, a season their fans will be talking about for years to come.
In my view, many of Tottenham's players are just as skilful as those wearing a Liverpool shirt, but at the moment they have lost that self-belief that comes from winning matches. And a winning mentality starts with a strong work ethic and a focus on team play. If Tottenham players really want to kick on next season, they could do worse than watch a DVD of Liverpool performances this season - and learn what it means to work hard and play as a team'.
