Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Ramsey performance v Hull

Ramsey Celebrates 2013

Aaron Ramsey was back to his best as Arsenal romped to victory against Hull City today.

Arsenal may have had to watch Everton keep up in the race for fourth spot with a 2-0 win against Manchester United late this evening - but they wouldn’t have minded after putting in a performance reminiscent of their early season form.

And it was no coincidence that they produced such a performance with Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil back in the side.

Both have been out of action for a while now with differing injury problems but in fact more than the £42.4 million man it is the young man from Wales that Arsenal have missed more.

He was well on his way to having a superb season until picking up the injury on Boxing Day against West Ham.

And today was easily his best performance since making his comeback.

He scored the first goal, after excellent work from Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil, set up the second with a wonderful chest down for Lukas Podolski and it was his shot that was saved for Podolski to tuck away the third - he was simply put the match winner.

What he offers over the other central midfield options at Arsene Wenger’s disposal is that ability to run beyond his man.

Ramsey is one of the few in the Arsenal team who is happy to go beyond Olivier Giroud and attack the goal - a trait Arsenal have been missing in recent weeks with passing into feet almost becoming a disease like affliction.

For Arsenal fans the return of Ramsey to top form has certainly been greeted with open arms. With a genuine battle on their hands to cling onto fourth spot and potential Champions League football next season they need their star players firing on all cylinders - and Ramsey certainly did that today.
