€45m Manchester United target scouted by two of Europe's giants

Juventus and Real Madrid have reportedly been watching William Carvalho this week.

Manchester United are looking to have a much more productive transfer window this summer then they did a year ago - and one name that appears set to dominate the rumour and gossip columns for the next couple of months is Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho.

In Portugal it has been reported for a while that this deal is a likely one for the summer - and last month the Sunday People suggested the deal is 100% done.

The report stated that United had agreed a €45 million fee with Sporting Lisbon for the 21-year-old - meeting his release clause. It also claims he had a tour of the Carrington training ground and would join up with his new team after the World Cup in Brazil!

It has since been reported quite regularly that he is a main target for the club - and every week it appears there is a selection of Manchester United scouts in attendance to watch him in action for Sporting Lisbon.

He has been one of the standout players in a much improved Sporting season after their disappointing campaign last term - and would represent a truly magnificent piece of business for David Moyes - he could even become their very own Yaya Toure type.

However it appears that they are not necessarily the favourites to sign him anymore - as they have big name competition.

Reports in separate papers in separate countries today both suggest that Carvalho is also being watched by Italian giants Juventus and Spanish side Real Madrid - with bids set to be lodged for his services.

The Juventus rumour has been around for a couple of weeks - but it is being reported today that Bianconeri scouts checked him out in action this weekend.

Meanwhile Real are also keen. Los Merengues scouts came to watch him in action at his last two games, according to reports, and Manchester United have some serious competition for a player who could become their marquee midfielder.

Let’s hope this deal is as done as some think - or Moyes could be left with egg on his face.
