After a miraculous yet disappointing 3-3 draw at West Bromwich Albion last weekend, Tottenham needed a result to try and keep the pressure on Arsenal and Everton in the hunt for a Champions League place, and that's what they got against relegation-threatened Fulham.
But the big talking point in the game came with Spurs already 3-1 up, as Fulham won a penalty, giving them a chance to get back into the game. Sidwell stepped up to double his account, only for Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris to pull off an outstanding save in a performance that kept Spurs in front.
His superb display was praised by Spurs fans on Twitter, who were pleading with chairman Daniel Levy not to sell the French international, who has attracted interest from a number of clubs, as some suggested he is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League after today's outing.
In Lloris we trust. #THFC levy please don't let him go.— Cedric Devitt (@CedricDevitt) April 19, 2014
I really hope we can hold on to Eriksen and Lloris. We have to if we're gonna challenge next season! #THFC— steve pike (@spike033) April 19, 2014
Obviously hanging on to Lloris is also vital. Top, top keeper. #THFC— Paul Tredgett (@PaulTredgett) April 19, 2014
#THFC Levy over the moon as Lloris value rises. No way he won't be sold now. Even more money to waste— John Wardell (@oldjdub) April 19, 2014
