Tottenham Hotspur had a tough ride in today’s early afternoon kick-off but in the end they came away with a 3-1 win against Fulham - thanks mainly to the efforts of Christian Eriksen and Hugo Lloris.
Lloris made several excellent stops - and the French captain also stopped a second half Steve Sidwell penalty which ended all hopes of a comeback from The Cottagers.
Eriksen, who gave away the penalty, was superb from dead-ball situations. The first and third goal from Spurs came from centimetres out - both after Eriksen whipped in stupendous free-kicks.
But before the game the main talking point was … where is Sandro?
The Brazilian international, who is very popular at the club, was left out of the squad today and he took to Twitter to let the world now that it was not due to an injury - suggesting Tim Sherwood had dropped ‘The Beast’.
Good morning Guys, just to let you know that i'm not injured ! Hope that we can win the game today.— Sandro Raniere (@sandroraniere) April 19, 2014
In the end it clearly didn’t matter - although Spurs were fortunate to come away with all three points in a game where the scoreline did not tell the full story.
But the result is all that matters at this time of the season.
And one person who was happy with the result was Sandro.
Despite not playing the Samba Star still loves the club and the fans - as well as his team-mates - and he was quick to extend congratulations to his troops that went into battle - while he stayed at home.
Well done guys... Very good win.. Vamossss....— Sandro Raniere (@sandroraniere) April 19, 2014
After today's game Tim Sherwood had this to say about Sandro's absence ...
"What he's stating is correct, he's not selected at the moment. I don't think he's good enough to be in the side at the minute, when he shows me he's up to the level of the other players he'll be back in the squad. I like Sandro as a player but he has to work hard to be back in the side."
To which Sandro replied ...
Lol lol lol ...— Sandro Raniere (@sandroraniere) April 19, 2014
