Liverpool morning news: Early team news; Rodgers hails un-swappable star

A select round-up of morning news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool face Norwich City on Sunday lunchtime knowing they are tantalisingly close to their first ever Premier League title.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Daniel Sturridge is a major doubt for the match while Jordan Henderson begins his three-match suspension after seeing red against Manchester City last weekend.

The hosts could welcome Sebastien Bassong back into the side after missing last week’s game against Fulham.

In other news, the Guardian publishes quotes from Brendan Rodgers in which the Reds boss reveals he would not swap Steven Gerrard for any other holding player in the world at the moment.

“There’s not many players who can do what he can do,” Rodgers said, “be one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe and then switch to be arguably the best controlling player.”

Now all that is left for Gerrard is to lift the trophy that has eluded him for so long…and then there is the not so small matter of another World Cup campaign.
