Aston Villa are by no means safe yet, and will be looking for three points against Southampton at Villa Park today.
Paul Lambert's side slipped to a 1-0 loss at Crystal Palace last weekend, leaving Villa just three points clear of the drop zone with the season drawing to a close.
But the omens don't look particularly good for the Villains, with just two wins in the last ten games, including four consecutive defeats. Without Christian Benteke through injury, Lambert needs to find goals from somewhere, especially with such a leaky home defence.
Their opponents Southampton are comfortably in eighth place, but with three defeats in the last four games it looks like their season is petering out. England stars Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert will be hoping for a strong end to the campaign to book a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad for the World Cup this summer, and taking on a porous Villa defence could be just what they need.
Neither side is in great form entering this match, but Villa certainly need the points more than Southampton do.
