But the pair have been far apart in their managerial success this season.
Yesterday saw the Football Writers Association throw a lunch which saw many of the top managers attend and enjoy the splendour of each other’s company.
And Daniel Taylor of The Guardian shared an interesting piece of information about the occasion - as he announced that David Moyes and Brendan Rodgers shared a table - a table he referred to as the ‘top table’.
Decent turnout at FWA managers' lunch today. Rodgers, Moyes etc on top table. Not as much wine flowing as usual (no Fergie) but good do— Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian) April 17, 2014
The two have had polar opposite seasons. While Rodgers has been winning the hearts of every Liverpool fan Moyes has been testing the patience of every United fan who agreed to give him the time former manager Sir Alex Ferguson pleaded for.
Liverpool currently sit at the top of the Premier League table as United lie in seventh spot - a whopping 20 points behind their Merseyside rivals.
So as Rodgers closes in on the Premier League title Moyes is scrapping it out for a Europa League spot.
This might be the first and last year that the pair share the ‘top table’ at FWA lunch - they are certainly not sharing much in common in the Premier League table.
