Fjortoft: £7m Sagna replacement has been scouted - but Arsenal don't want him

Eintracht Frankfurt

Sebastian Jung has been watched by Arsenal but they were reportedly not impressed.

Arsenal are on the hunt for a new right-back this summer. Bacary Sagna looks increasingly like a man set to leave the club - with his current deal expiring in the summer and not looking any closer to an agreement being reached for an extension.

One name who has emerged as a potential replacement is that of German talent Sebastian Jung.

Jung fits in perfectly to the Arsenal mould and would also go along with the recent trend of Arsene Wenger’s to look into the German market for new blood.

Meanwhile Jung is said to be keen on a move away from his boyhood club Eintracht Frankfurt in order to help his international ambitions.

Arsenal would do well to snap the player up - and at a reported asking price of just £7 million he would also represent good value, so this is a deal they would certainly like to wrap up.

And rumours over his future gathered momentum this week after his agent confirmed Arsenal were in the hunt for his services.

Mino Grillo stated:

“For Jung there is news from Italy, from Inter, Roma and Milan, but there has been no recent contact. In England, Arsenal are on his trail. He is a right-back with a secure future and in general Eintracht’s youth offers several talents that have been shown in the Bundesliga last season, this season and in the Europa League.”

So perhaps this rumoured £7 million deal is in the pipeline?

Not if Jan Age Fjortoft is to be believed. The Norwegian infamously broke the Mesut Ozil to Arsenal news to the world in September last year - and he has made it clear that Arsenal have taken a look at the player … and were not impressed.

Here is his Tweet on the subject…
