Fans opposed to £60m swap deal involving Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba

Juventus fans have voted in a poll against the prospect of swapping Chelsea target Edinson Cavani and former Manchester United prospect Paul Pogba.

Juventus have been chasing a big money superstar striker for many a season, but finances have prevented them from signing one.

Two summers ago they even loaned Nicklas Bendtner, while last summer they brought in Fernando Llorente on a free transfer and Carlos Tevez for £10 million.

Both have been good additions, but their loan for Southampton outcast Dani Osvaldo in January indicated they are still on the lookout - but the bad boy has not been a success so far, contributing two goals in 13 games, with none in Serie A.

So the opportunity to land Edinson Cavani is one the Old Lady should seriously consider, amid constant rumours of the Uruguayan being unsettled at PSG, and blamed by the French press for their Champions League exit to Chelsea.

The Blues have been strongly linked with his services themselves, The Mirror claiming just this week he is keen on a switch, although reports elsewhere claim it is Diego Costa who is more likely to be playing for Jose Mourinho's side next summer.

Juventus can't afford Cavani, but they do possess the one player PSG want more than any other: French international midfielder Paul Pogba.

With one of Europe's strongest midfields, PSG don't need Pogba, but they do want him, and when the chance to sign arguably the continent's most talented player comes along, you can bet a club with the money the French champions possess, they will not pass up the opportunity. They would probably trade away Cavani in an instant.

That swap deal is precisely the scenario being put forward by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, who asked readers if they would approve of a deal to sell Pogba for Cavani plus £10 million.

20,000 fans responded to the online survey, and 62 per cent voted they would not swap Pogba and Cavani, with 38 per cent in favour.

Given Juventus' striking dilemmas, it's a real indication of how highly they value former Manchester United academy star Pogba, that fans would rather keep the coveted Frenchman.

With Andrea Pirlo coming to the end of his career, fans don't want to lose the crown jewel of their midfield, even if many would clearly consider it to land Cavani.
