The second free game available to Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers is now downloadable over on Xbox LIVE.
At the beginning of this month we reported on the first of April’s free games for Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers, Hitman: Absolution. So, now you’ve had chance to carry out hits in a fully 3D environment, it’s time for a little bit of a change in scenery with the second free game this month, Deadlight.
Deadlight is a 2D side-scroller from Madrid-based indie studio Tequila Works. Set in Seattle, 1986, in the wake of a zombie apocalypse, you take on the role of Randall Wayne, former Park Ranger - a man desperately trying to find his family since the apocalypse broke out. Rumours of a ‘Safe Point’ on the Pacific Nothwest send Randall steadfast in that direction, hoping his family have done the same.
Encountering Shadows (the game’s take on zombies) along the way, as well as a militia group calling themselves ‘The New Law’, Randall’s journey is anything but plain-sailing. The game received mixed reviews at the time it was released – playing the game myself, I would say that the setting, atmosphere, and overall look of the game are its strong points, however, the gameplay mechanics leave a lot to be desired. Either way, it’s free, so there’s not really much excuse for not picking it up and trying it out.

Deadlight will be available for free download up until 30 April 2014.
