I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 16th April 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 16th April 2013…
Arsenal snap up Barca starlet
Arsenal were engaged in a battle for Barcelona’s young left-back Julio Pleguezuelo. The 16-year-old was rated as one of the stars of the famed Barca academy - but had already informed the club he dreamed of playing in England.
The Gunners were said to be battling Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City for his services - and in the end they got their man.
Fast forward a year and the now 17-year-old Julio has just signed his first professional contract with the club - and hopes are high that he will become a regular member of the Arsenal first-team in years to come.
Sure on Schurrle
Chelsea’s long protracted transfer chase of Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle looked like it was falling into place.
They had watched the player for many months and had two bids in the summer of 2012 rejected for the player - but on this occasion a bid of £18 million was reportedly accepted.
The deal was confirmed on the 13th June 2013 by Bayer Leverkusen.
Schurrle has gone on to become a vital cog in the Jose Mourinho machine this season as The Blues fight for domestic and continental silverware.
Patrice Evra was sharing an amusing anecdote on why he would not celebrate a goal like his team-mate Robin van Persie recently had.
RVP had revelled in scoring a goal from the penalty spot against Stoke City, ending a 10-game goal drought, by jumping into the arms of Sir Alex Ferguson - an act which the gaffer had stated ‘nearly killed him’.
And Evra said:
“No chance. Never. Maybe I will do it with my team-mates. But not with the gaffer. He is older. Imagine I go in too strong against him. He could fall, then he might sack me. I will never do that.”
