PICTURE: Injured Liverpool defender 'getting fit' after lengthy injury spell

Jose Enrique hasn't featured much this season because of a knee problem.

Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons having missed much of the Reds’ charge to the top of the Premier League due to a knee injury.

Nevertheless, the Spaniard is on the comeback trail having not made an appearance for the side since Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Fulham at Anfield in November where he came on as a substitute with half an hour to go.

He posted a picture on his Instagram page today with the caption: "Some running today. Getting fit."

Enrique has made seven appearances this season for Liverpool and will not make a return to action this season – but his absence has been a bit of a headache for manager Brendan Rodgers as Aly Cissokho, Jon Flanagan, Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson have all filled in for him during his spell on the sidelines.

However, Rodgers has been impressed with 21-year-old Flanagan who seems to have made that position his own of late, and if Enrique wants to reclaim that spot next season he is going to have to work hard to get back into the starting XI, and that's not even taking into account any new signings the club may make.
