Could Liverpool sign this Bundesliga star that turned down Man United?

Bay Arena - Bayer Leverkusen

Brendan Rodgers’ men have been linked with a summer approach for Bayer Leverkusen star Son Heung-Min.

Liverpool have returned to the glory days this year, with the Anfield side fighting for the Premier League title and a return to Champions League football.

As such, Brendan Rodgers will look to bring in a number of new faces in the summer to strengthen his squad ahead of the return of European football next term.

Reports in the British press today are linking the Reds with a move for highly rated Bayer Leverkusen attacker Son Heung-Min.

The Daily Mail claim that the Merseysiders are keeping an eye on the South Korea international and are weighing up a raid on the forward this summer.

Son’s agent revealed earlier in the campaign that the player had the opportunity to move to Manchester United ahead of this season but instead chose the BayArena outfit when leaving Hamburg.

At first glance, the Asian star looks like a very sensible signing for the Anfield outfit.

He is versatile enough to play anywhere along the forward line, which will appeal to Rodgers – who implores his attackers to switch positions from game-to-game.

Son has a sprightly turn of pace that would fit in with the Reds’ counter-attacking style and is comfortable on the ball to ease into Rodgers’ emphasis on possession.

He also offers the threat of goals from deep and has impressed this season for Leverkusen.

The 21-year-old has scored nine Bundesliga goals in 25 appearances for the BayArena outfit this term.

With Son also set to play for his nation in this summer’s World Cup, a scramble for his services could well be on the cards if Leverkusen are willing to sell.
