If anybody knows about scoring goals for Arsenal it is Ian Wright - in fact the only person who would know more on this topic would be Thierry Henry.
Wright scored a whopping 185 goals in 288 games for The Gunners during his seven year career in North London - and was of course the club’s record goalscorer until Henry came along.
He is also still a massive fan of his former club - regularly commenting on events at the club either on TV, radio or indeed through his official Twitter account.
Yesterday he was checking Arsenal out in action against another of his former teams West Ham - as The Gunners defeated The Hammers 3-1 at The Emirates.
And as usual with Wright he was mainly interested in the goalscoring side of the game.
He was on Twitter congratulating the goalscorer’s Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski on their individual performances - in particular the latter.
Podolski played a rare full 90 minutes yesterday and demonstrated his potent finishing in the game with two wonderfully taken strikes.
And Wright feels he needs to get more playing time:
Brilliant goal @_OlivierGiroud_ ! And I'm pleased that podolski finally gets to finish a game! Let him play more! He will score more. :-)— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) April 15, 2014
Many would agree with Wright.
Not only is Poldi popular among the fans but he is perhaps the most naturally gifted finisher in the entire team - even Wenger had to allude to his potent strike rate after the game yesterday:
“He is a fantastic finisher because he has unbelievable power and a very short backlift. So the one you want to have a chance is him.”
So perhaps Podolski should be playing 90 minutes a lot more than he has been recently.
