Liverpool fans react on Twitter to new Sterling contract reports - 'Give him a 12 year deal!'

Liverpool star Raheem Sterling is reportedly in line to get a new contract offer from Liverpool.

Liverpool wide man Raheem Sterling is reportedly in line to receive a second new contract from the Anfield club in under a year-and-a-half.

Sterling has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ best players this season as he’s racked up seven goals and five assists so far in a potentially Premier League title winning season.

He only signed a new contract with the club last season, taking his pay up to around £30,000 per week and the Merseyside team are thought to want to reward him with another new deal.

His performances this season and his effectiveness when playing counter attacking football have led to the suggestion that he could start for England at the World Cup this summer.

However, he’s turned into a player who offers a lot more than just pace when haring down the other end of the pitch after an opposition attack has broken up.

He’s making the right decisions in the final third of the pitch and shows a composure in front of goal, which was lacking last season which can be seen from the goals he’s scored against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City last weekend already this season.

It all makes the speculation that he could have left the club on loan last January seem amazing because he’s turned into a player who could make his way into the Premier League team of the season, potentially winning the young player of the year award.

Liverpool could be better off waiting until the summer to offer the new deal, after the World Cup as it could prove to be a distraction at the moment, with the Reds closing in on an historic first league title since the 1989/1990 campaign.

Here’s what Liverpool fans have had to say about the potential new deal on social media site Twitter.
