The Evil Within: Overview and New Trailer

The Evil Within cover

The Evil Within is a psychological horror/action game published by Bethesda Softworks. Here is an overview and the new trailer.

The Evil Within is a psychological horror directed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of the original Resident Evil games. From what has been shown so far in the gameplay the game itself certainly looks like a fusion of both Resident Evil and Silent Hill, an interesting iconic new enemy could make up for this game's very own Red Pyramid Head.

However even though the roots for this game are psychological, the game looks like it has both physical and psychological elements, gore especially. Rather than warding off spirits and demons you will be up against monsters which won't think twice before killing you. You are definitely going to be fighting your way out of this one as there is nowhere to hide. Like Resident Evil the game is going to be a Third-Person Shooter, you will have weapons to defend yourself this time. You will need weapons but limitations are going to be frequently emphasized as you are not going to be shooting your way out of every nasty situation you find yourself woven into. Sometimes your only option is to run. It's either fight or run with this game and that will lay a major role in the plot. Deciding and learning when which option is necessary is going to be the very foundation of your survival.

Upon going to investigate a mass murder, the player will witness the deaths of his two accomplices as they are massacred and after being attacked, will fall into a state of unconsciousness. Upon waking, you will find yourself in a rather extraordinary environment. You seem to be in a different dimension of some sort. Monsters roam these lands and you must plunge your way through this world of darkness in order to find out whats going on...

Arriving in stores August 2014, the game will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.
