Manchester United midfielder Anderson celebrated his 26th birthday yesterday, but it was not one he was able to enjoy on the pitch.
The Brazilian's future looks bleak at United, sent on loan to Fiorentina in January after barely featuring under David Moyes in the first half of the season.
It was a great day for Fiorentina as they won 5-3 away at Hellas Veronas. Except for Anderson all the birthday celebrations were off the pitch.
The midfielder was snubbed by coach Vincenzo Montella, as he was left on the bench for the encounter.
And as the boss made all three substitutes, there was no room for birthday sentiment for Anderson, overlooked, including late on with 21-year-old Rafal Wolski preferred.
It is not the first time Anderson has been snubbed in recent weeks. He has not started since March 16, and this is the sixth game since that date he has not been selected as a starter.
During that six match spell, he has come on as a substitute only once - and that was in the 90th minute.
After a bright start, the loan is turning out to be a bit of a disaster for the midfielder, he has only made four starts in total since arriving at the club.
His future may well not be at Manchester United, but it's looking like it is also unlikely it will be in Fiorentina next season either.
