Atletico Madrid are said to be planning for life without Diego Costa, and have identified the next potential superstar.
Spanish newspaper Marca report that the La Liga leaders are ready to launch an offer for the Argentine wonderkid Angel Correa, who at 19 is dazzling for San Lorenzo.
The forward has been playing out wide for his club but is seen as having the ability to become a striker, and been likened to countryman Sergio Aguero.
That comparison is only going to make Atletico Madrid swoon, it was there that Aguero made his name in Europe, scoring more than 100 goals after they paid almost £20 million to sign him from Independiente.
Regarding Correa, Marca claim: 'Atlético have reached an initial agreement to sign the Argentine forward'.
They add: "Nothing has been signed just yet. For this reason, 'Los Rojiblancos' are remaining cautious and will not consider it a done deal until pen has been put to paper. The player is highly sought after and it would not be surprising - as has happened on other occasions - if other European teams tried to intervene.
"The amount for which the deal could be closed is around €9 million, 60% of the fee for the young Argentine striker."
The paper describes Correa as taking the Argentine league by storm, and Marca's headline suggests he is wanted to be the next big star at Atletico, entitled 'Aguero, Falcao, Costa...Correa?' suggesting he is next in line.
Diego Costa is widely reported to be Chelsea's top transfer target, with 26 La Liga goals to his name alone this season, the striker is seen as the answer to Jose Mourinho's side's striking dilemma.
For Atletico, placing their faith directly in Correa would be a gamble. For his talent, he isn't yet proven, nor is he prolific at San Lorenzo.
Manager Diego Simeone knows how to spot a good player however, and get the best out them; he has consistently proved that at Atletico. It would be hard to bet against him unearthing another jewel if his plan to sign Correa comes off.
