Liverpool Player Ratings vs Manchester City: Coutinho and Sterling star

Giant Anfield Flag

How did Liverpool's players fare in the 3-2 win over Manchester City this afternoon? Here are the ratings for Brendan Rodgers' side...

Simon Mignolet 6 - had some nervy moments when faced with high crosses into the box, and could also have done better to prevent City's second goal.

Glen Johnson 7 - was unfortunate to be credited with an own goal, and Johnson was regularly a useful outlet down the right hand side, particularly in the first half.

Martin Skrtel 8 - Strong up against Edin Dzeko and put his body on the line, as well as scoring the all important second goal. Got away with a handball late on though.

Mamadou Sakho 7 - Suspect in possession at times but used his athleticism well to cover against the City attacks.

John Flanagan 7 - Coped well up against Jesus Navas and whilst he had a little more trouble with James Milner, Flanagan again gave a solid performance in the Liverpool defence.

Steven Gerrard 8 - Great display from the captain, who bossed the midfield and was unlucky not to score as his header was tipped over by Joe Hart in the first half.

Jordan Henderson 6 - Disappointing display from Henderson, who gave the ball away too frequently and was then sent off late on for a poor challenge on Samir Nasri.

Philippe Coutinho 8 - The diminutive Brazilian was in fine form again, threatening on a number of occasions before superbly smashing home the winner.

Raheem Sterling 8 - Bagged the early opener and was a constant menace in the first half with his pace and direct running, but tired somewhat in the second half as a result.

Luis Suarez 7 - Not Suarez's finest display for the club today, as many of his flicks and attacking intentions didn't come off, and was guilty of diving on a number of occasions.

Daniel Sturridge 6 - Much like Suarez, Sturridge was a threat with his pace and movement without much success, including missing a guilt-edged opportunity shortly after the opening goal.

Victor Moses 5 - touched the ball twice and gave the ball away.

Joe Allen 6 - came on for the injured Sturridge with 25 minutes to play, but showed some indecision in the final third.

Lucas Leiva - didn't have enough time to make an impact.
