Chelsea get boost thanks to Liverpool's Jordan Henderson's red card suspension

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson stands to miss the crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Liverpool secured a memorable win against a resilient Manchester City on Sunday afternoon but it was not quite perfect.

A late red card for midfielder Jordan Henderson for a mistimed tackle saw referee Mark Clattenburg send him off - and the England midfielder will now miss most of the remaining title run-in.

Henderson faces a three game ban, with just four games remaining of Liverpool's Premier League season.

It means the in-form midfielder will miss matches against Norwich City and Crystal Palace - and in between the crucial Premier League game at Anfield against Chelsea.

Having seen off City, and in light of Chelsea's win yesterday, Liverpool will still see Jose Mourinho's side as a big threat to yet win the title.

With home advantage, and Chelsea having to play the game sandwiched in between Champions League semi-finals against Atletico Madrid, Liverpool were clear favourites for the tie.

This will remain the case, as they look unstoppable at Anfield at present. But the loss of Henderson, a key player this season, will perhaps balance the tie back at 50-50.
