Arsenal are into the FA Cup final - where they await Hull City or Sheffield United - but it was a game that nearly slipped out of their grips.
They were trailing to a Jordi Gomez penalty for much of the second half - before Per Mertesacker headed home and the rest, as they say, is history.
The other good news from the game, other than getting one step closer to ending that trophy drought, would have to be the appearance of Aaron Ramsey from the kick-off - his first start of 2014.
He made a cameo against Everton last week - but was thrown in at the deep end against Wigan yesterday evening.
So how did he get on?
It was a strange one for Ramsey.
He is still clearly not 100% match fit and at times he looked very rusty. His touch often got away with him and his passing was not its usual crisp and perfect self - all in all it was not awe inspiring from a player still clearly at about 75% on the fitness ratio.
Saying that he did have plenty of touches, made some decent tackles and worked his heart out - all things we have come to expect from Ramsey over the past 18 months - but it was not always very effective.
But, the most amazing thing about his performance is just how long it continued!
Here is a player who has been out since last year and only has a little over a week of full training under his belt.
Yet Arsene Wenger saw fit to keep him on the pitch for an astonishing 113 minutes.
In the end Ramsey forced the substitution after continually signalling to the bench that he needed to depart -and he looked visibly irritated as he left the field for Kim Kallstrom.
All in all it was not a bad performance - but the knock on effect must be Tuesday night against West Ham.
After playing for so long, after so long out injured - will Ramsey even feature?
Here are some of your thoughts from Twitter on his performance yesterday…
Smart to rest Ramsey for the last six minutes. Don't want to overwork him.— Tom Adams (@tomEurosport) April 12, 2014
I just hope Aaron Ramsey is fine...he played far too many minutes yesterda....and Kim Kallstrom should start a game— Jagaban (@sidramatic1) April 13, 2014
Aaron Ramsey hasn't played for 4 months. Today plays 113 minutes -that is crazy and not putting the health of the player first.— Ilya Orlov (@ilyao88) April 13, 2014
@aaronramsey well played today mate its good that you've come back to the team and a great win to put us through to the final— Connor (@ConnorLacey4) April 12, 2014
Waiting for Aaron Ramsey to perform some quality to turn this game around...— Kah Meng (@chewingum8) April 12, 2014
