CONFIRMED: Arsenal & Wigan Athletic line-ups - Ramsey and Sanogo start

FA Cup

Here is how Arsenal and Wigan Athletic will line up for this afternoon’s FA Cup semi-final:

Arsenal starting XI: Fabianski, Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Monreal, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Cazorla, Podolski, Sanogo

Subs: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Kallstrom, Akpom, Eisfeld, Giroud

Wigan Athletic starting XI: Carson, Perch, Boyce, Ramis, Crainey, McArthur, McEachran, McManaman, Beausejour, Gomez, Fortune

Subs: Al Habsi, Barnett, Caldwell, Maloney, Espinoza, Collison, Powell

So this is it. Either Arsenal beat Wigan Athletic and take their place in the FA Cup final, or the Gunners’ season is all but over with Everton breathing down their necks in the race for fourth-spot.

The importance of today’s game for Arsene Wenger’s side cannot be understated. The Frenchman needs a trophy to alleviate the doubt and discontent that has regularly gathered around the North London club in recent seasons. But Wigan are the holders and have already seen to Manchester City this season.

It makes for a fascinating encounter, and with the two sides never having met in this competition, we can only talk about their previous league encounters, the last of which Arsenal won 4-1.

Could this match and a possible final determine if Wenger remains as manager next season? We may know in a few short weeks…

What do you think today’s result will be?
