The Europa League served up a sensational tie last night - as Valencia completed a great European comeback to send Swiss champions FC Basel out of the competition at the quarter-final stage.
Trailing 3-0 from the first leg Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side had it all to do at the Mestalla last night.
And boy, did they do it.
They came out firing against the Swiss outfit - and managed to pull off an incredible result.
In normal time they hauled in the 3-0 aggregate lead - and in extra time scored another two - 5-0 on the night and Spanish success in this competition continues to be the norm.
The goals came via a Paco Alcacer hat-trick, a strike from Eduardo Vargas and a late finish from Juan Bernat - it was a stunning performance and one which left the home crowd in absolute rapture.
But the man who scored Valencia’s goals last season was also on top of the world whilst watching the game.
Roberto Soldado spent three seasons at the Mestalla - bagging an impressive 81 goals in 141 appearances for the club during that time.
And while he may have made a £26 million move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer he certainly has not forgotten about his former team-mates.
Here is a selection of Tweets from the player last night …

I don’t think you really need a translation to understand just how chuffed he was with the performance of his former team-mates.
Now they move on to the semi-finals with Spurs’ competition conquerors Benfica, Juventus and Sevilla and Soldado will no doubt be cheering them on some more.
