Darren Fletcher has warned the Old Trafford squad that everyone faces the axe from David Moyes’ squad at the season end.
After an underwhelming debut campaign under David Moyes, summer spending will be the order of the day at Manchester United, with widespread acceptance that the Old Trafford squad is set for an overhaul.
Despite the expected glut of new faces, there will also be some departures, namely Nemanja Vidic and his move to Inter Milan.
However, Darren Fletcher has stated that the Serb might not be the only high-profile exit this summer and that the entire squad is now playing for their futures at the historic club.
"The boys have got to play well to stay in the manager's thoughts for next season," The Express quote the veteran Scotland international as saying.
"There is talk of a lot of changes and I fully expect there to be some signings.
"So if you get an opportunity to play you have to go out there and perform and to show the manager that you want to be at United, that you are capable of being at United and you are good enough.
"A lot of people will say there isn't a lot to play for now, but there is. You are playing for personal pride and to be in the squad for next season."
United have a slim chance of finishing in fourth and qualifying for the Champions League, but most likely will fall short.
The media are already naming new players that could well be Old Trafford bound and as such Fletcher’s view that the squad will be thoroughly assessed this summer seems on the money.
