Man United and Arsenal linked defender playing down rumours

Sevilla Football Club

Federico Fazio’s agent has stated that the centre-half is not taking notice of talk of a Sevilla exit.

Despite selling the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Gary Medel and Jesus Navas in the summer, Sevilla are having an excellent season.

The Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan outfit have progressed through to the semi-finals of the Europa League and are in fifth place in La Liga currently.

Although the likes of Carlos Bacca and Ivan Rakitic have been getting the headlines, the defensive efforts of Federico Fazio have not gone unnoticed.

The no-nonsense central defender has been linked with a move to England over the last six months, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United thought to be keeping tabs on his progress.

Despite this, Fazio’s agent has stated that he is not thinking about leaving the La Liga side at the moment.

“Federico is having a great season, his performances are attracting interest from prominent clubs in England, Spain and Italy,” Ariel Kiperszmid told Tutto Mercato.

“The boy has been at Sevilla since 2007 and is fine in Andalusia, and in recent months he has extended his contract.

“Fazio is now focused on doing well with his club, who are looking to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

“He wants to concentrate on the end of the season and in the summer we will evaluate any proposals with Sevilla.”

Sevilla have a track record of parting company with their best players, but whether or not the club make the Champions League for next season will surely play a part in Fazio’s future.
