Manchester United defender admits he had his doubts over Luis Suarez being of the very highest level.
Sitting above both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the European Golden Shoe rankings, Luis Suarez is enjoying a dream season.
The Uruguayan is achieving this despite games missed through suspension early in the season, firing his team to the top of the Premier League.
A lead contender for player of the year honours, doubts over Suarez's quality surely no longer remain.
And believe it or not there were some, with former Manchester United defender Gary Neville admitting he was one of them.
Writing in his EASports column, he said: "Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez’s performance levels this season have been of the highest quality. 12-18 months ago I wondered if Suárez was really top class.
"There is no doubt about that now. His work rate and tenacity is just incredible."
Suarez is enjoying a season of the very highest quality. He currently leads the Premier League in goals scored, has 11 assists, and creates on average almost three chances per game.

He has now just five games between now and the end of the season, including two blockbuster clashes at Anfield against Manchester City and Chelsea.
If he scores the goals to fire Liverpool to victory in those two matches, there may be no doubters ever again as to the Uruguayan's talent.
