When it comes to the summer, there will be two Premier League clubs who are certainties to enter the transfer market in order to find precisely what they have missed throughout this season - and it is exactly what Manchester City and Liverpool have benefited from: a prolific and reliable goalscorer like Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez.
Players as adept up front as the South American duo may seem rare, particularly as both athletes are about to enter their prime years yet have attacking efficiency ratings that are superior to Ballon d'Or top three Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery.
However, there are a number of potentially available strikers for no more than £25m to £35m (depending on the publisher's speculation) who could, under the right coach's tutelage, end up emulating the statistics currently returned by Aguero (one goal scored or assist provided every 51 minutes in the Premier League) and Suarez (also every 51 minutes, on average).
"At the moment there is not any kind of negotiation for Jackson Martinez," commented his representative Manuel Manso to TMW.
"Until May we will not talk with any team," Manso added. "He’s focused on the end of the season with Porto – once the championship is finished we will see."
Jackson Martinez has scored 18 goals in Portugal's Primeira Liga and twice in the Champions League this season, however, the Colombian was in particularly lethal form at the start of the season, scoring seven in his first seven league games.
