"Sorrow in a suit" - comedian pokes fun at beleaguered United boss Moyes

David Moyes Interview - 23/02/2014

Comedian and actor Hugh Laurie piled the misery on Manchester United boss David Moyes by saying the former Everton man is "sorrow in a suit".

It's been a tough season for Moyes, who has had to watch on as his Manchester United side have struggled to cope with the departure of former boss Sir Alex Ferguson, with the Red Devils slipping from champions of the Premier League to seventh place this season.

As a result, the pressure has been mounting on Moyes, particularly after big losses to local rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, and there are a large amount of United fans who believe that Moyes isn't the right man to lead the club forward, which resulted in a controversial plane being flown over Old Trafford before the recent game against Aston Villa.

And despite a respectable 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, United fell to a 3-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena last night to go crashing out of the tournament at the quarter final stage - and the pressure once again piled up on Moyes.

Whilst it was pundits and fans who had the most to say on the beleaguered United boss, it was actor and comedian Hugh Laurie who had arguably the most cutting comment of the night, tweeting that Moyes was difficult to watch as he has become 'sorrow in a suit'.
