Arsenal have suffered heavy defeats against Liverpool (5-1), Chelsea (6-0) and Everton (3-0) over the past few months, but it was another loss which was most galling.
That is according to Spanish international maestro Santi Cazorla, one of the side's key creative players.
The midfielder told the Telegraph that it was the 1-0 defeat away to Stoke City, which followed the home loss to Bayern Munich which really stung, and set the tone for the following months.
He said: "We couldn’t recover after going out against Bayern in the Champions League.
"And the defeat against Stoke finished us. You can’t lose against Stoke if you aspire to be the next champion."
The fact is however each team has surprise losses along the way in their title bids. Liverpool lost at Hull City this season, Chelsea to Crystal Palace and Manchester City to Sunderland.
The key is how teams react to these defeats, and in Arsenal's case it certainly seems a mental problem, and they have just one win in six games.
If they can't bounce back from their loss to Everton with a win against Wigan in the FA Cup this weekend, then it will be clear there is a real problem at the club.
