Yesterday we were treated to a healthy dose of Super Smash Bros. content and news, by way of a Nintendo Direct which specifically focussed on the game.
An exclusive new mode was revealed for the 3DS version of the game called ‘Smash Run’. In this mode players will have five minutes to make their way around a dungeon, fighting enemies and collecting power-ups to boost their characters' stats. When the five minutes are over, the players will enter a battle arena, with their new power-ups and stats, and must duke it out to win.
Characters from previous Super Smash Bros. games will return, and some with new abilities. Four other characters were also confirmed as being selectable stand-alone choices for players to fight with, they are; Zero Suit Samus; Sheik; and Charizard.
Items, Assist Trophies and Poke Balls will make a welcome return, along with all-new ‘Master Balls’, which are special Poke Balls containing Legendary Pokemon.
Between the Wii U and 3DS version of the game, there will be features which link each version, and customisable move sets are also teased when playing locally or with friends online. More details of these features will be revealed at some point in the future.
