Robin van Persie entered a locker room to introduce himself to a bunch of players, four of them were Blues…
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, reportedly available in the summer market after tabloid speculation in March suggested that the player has a release clause in his contract which could be activated should the club fail to secure Champions League football, has introduced himself with four players on the books at rival club Chelsea.
Last weekend, van Persie, 30, attended an Eredivisie match between Vitesse Arnhem and Ajax. He was invited into the Vitesse locker room where he would have met four Blues who had either started the match or were named amongst the substitutes bench, including: Patrick van Aanholt, Bertrand Traore, Christian Atsu and Lucas Piazon.
Commented goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen: "He stood in the hallway and I said 'come here'. I know him from the Oranje and have always kept in touch with him. He popped in and it was fun."
Van Persie has been in Holland as he is recovering from his knee injury in Zeist.
Van Persie could be due a loyalty bonus yet, according to a Mirror report from last month, would prefer to leave the club and not secure the £10m loyalty add-on. The Mirror linked Juventus with a move, while Tuttosport also believe Serie A's Old Lady were interested in the experienced attacker, with AS Monaco and… Chelsea, also associated with the player.
