Whether just playing poorly, driving at 150mph in a 40 zone or deciding to swap shirts with gone away striker Robin van Persie at half-time it is fair to say that Brazilian ‘defender’ Andre Santos has had a pretty tumultuous time since joining the Gunners for £6.2 million from Fenerbahce.
But it was his dubious credentials as a defender that in the end proved the final nail in his coffin. The Gunners brought in Nacho Monreal from Malaga and the Samba star was shipped out on loan to Gremio.
Nowadays he is plying his trade at Brazilian club Flamengo and last season won the Brazilian Cup with the outfit.
But this campaign has been a slower start for the player - but he might have kicked it into gear yesterday evening.
Santos was on the scoresheet for his team against Mexican club Club Leon. He bagged the equaliser in the game after they went 1-0 down early on - and it was his first goal of the season.
But his brave header, not a concept he was familiar with in the UK, was not enough.
Flamengo lost the game 3-2 - with former Wigan Athletic striker Mauro Boselli scoring for the visiting Mexican outfit.
