Chelsea and Manchester City stars David Luiz and Sergio Agüero have teamed up to film a new advert for Pepsi Max and showed few signs of either their domestic or international rivalries.
Agüero and Luiz were filmed on the streets of Rio de Janeiro outside a cafe sipping on the soft drink as the star of the commercial, the digital beat sensation Stony, who races past and uses the bottles on the star duo's table as a xylophone with a pair of drumsticks as part of the brand's 2014 campaign.
The duo are currently embroiled in a tense title race with their respective clubs and will also go head to head as South American rivals in the summer as Luiz looks to win on home soil with Brazil, while Agüero will hope to upset the party with fierce adversaries Argentina.
The advert is designed to focus primarily on the celebration of football and music with the tagline 'NOW IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT' and has a star-studded cast.
Pepsi's all-star #FutbolNow lineup includes fellow Premier League stars Robin van Persie and Jack Wilshere, as well as Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos and four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, who appears at the start of the advert.
The advert follows Stony around the city as he brushes shoulders with the footballing stars and, armed with just a pepsi can and his drumsticks is able to contribute to the background tune of the piece, 'Heroes', the David Bowie classic sung by Janelle Monrae.
Pepsi explain the advert's objective is to put the “now” directly into the hands of the fan, with additional interactive content to delve deeper into digital beat sensation Stony’s tour through the streets of Rio – allowing them to create their own experience.
The advert, which can be seen below, is also described by the soft drinks giant as being: 'The compelling, interactive escape offers twists and turns to the story of the footballers, Rio, Stony and Janelle and how their worlds sync up, all brought to life in an engaging, uniquely shareable way.'
