Demba Ba reveals how he feels when told Chelsea need a new striker

Chelsea striker says he is united with his teammates and determined to prove a point.

Chelsea matchwinner Demba Ba says the club's strikers do not let criticism get to them, even from their own manager.

The trio of Ba, Torres and Eto'o have been much maligned this season, each individually outscored by Eden Hazard, with many feeling the Blues need a 30-goal a season man to take them to the next level.

Even Jose Mourinho stated after the first leg he wanted 'real strikers', but it was Ba, the more lowly regarded of the trio, who netted the crucial goal against PSG.

Speaking after the match to French radio station RMC, the Senegalese international admitted that the club being linked to Diego Costa and co. has only brought the club's strikers closer together.

He said: "I have a somewhat special relationship with the other two attackers, compared to all that is said in the papers.

"I hear: "Chelsea need a striker."It strengthens us, it even more welds us to show people that this is wrong.

"We have nothing to prove to Mourinho. We're here to save the team. It is difficult at times but it is not impossible."

Prove a point is precisely what Ba did, with his heroics giving his career at Chelsea a lifeline.

He added that he was though happy to be called off the bench ahead of Torres, showing that he isn't necessarily a third choice striker as he is perceived to be.

"It's good to see that the hierarchy is sometimes shaken, even if it remains only 20 minutes. I take what they give me and I try to be helpful to the club and the team."

The chances of him remaining next season are still slim, yet for the duration of this campaign, the solidarity the trio of strikers show, and readiness to work together, is only going to enhance their prospects of winning a trophy come the end of he season.
