It all started when David Moyes was spotted taking in a Bayern match in January - sitting alongside the German international’s agent.
When it emerged Kroos’ contract talks over an extension to the final 18 months of his current deal had reached a stalemate it seemed he might just be on the way.
On Wednesday night United will face off against the player at the Allianz Arena in a Champions Leage quarter-final second leg - as The Red Devils attempt to knock Bayern off their perch.
Kroos is likely to start the game, with Thiago Alcantara and Bastian Schweinsteiger out of action - but will he be facing former team-mates.
According to The Mirror yes he will!
They published a story this week claiming he had already told friends a deal was waiting for him at Old Trafford and he was ready to say yes.
However, let’s not forget The Mirror were one of two newspapers banned by Bayern from the second leg for their ‘derogatory’ headline after the last game - this might just be a pop.
If his agent’s comments to BILD are anything to go by that seems the case for now.
Volker Struth stated:
"We are confronted with a variety of rumours for months, but will continue not get to learn. But at the moment I believe that Toni will play for Bayern in 2015 at least."
Not words that seem to encourage a move I think you will agree.
Perhaps that will put an end to Kroos-United rumours.
Yeah, I doubt that as well.
