There is certainly no love-lost between Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff and Catalan enemy Jose Mourinho, with the duo forever exchanging words in the press.
Johan Cruyff is one of the founder members of Barcelona’s awe-inspiring tiki-taki football, whereas Jose Mourinho’s philosophy differs somewhat.
During Mourinho’s time at Real Madrid, he masterminded a way to disrupt Barcelona’s rhythm and expose their weaknesses with lightning-fast counterattacks.
Whilst the Chelsea boss’ stock had rose in Madrid as a result, his behaviour and insistence of a Real Madrid versus the world scenario began to tire on many on and off the pitch in the Spanish capital – resulting in a relationship breakdown during the Portuguese boss’ final year at the club.
The Chelsea stars have supported their boss since his return, and other than a well-known striker problem, Mourinho has yet to ruffle any feathers in the Chelsea dressing room.
Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, however, believes it’s only a matter of time before Mourinho drives a wedge between himself and his players, predicting he will lose the dressing room at Stamford Bridge in the same manner he did at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“The same always happens with him.” Cruyff told Spanish newspaper AS.
“When things go well, it is the result of a good job, though when things go bad it is the players who are at fault.”
He added: “He lost the support of the dressing room at Real Madrid as a result of this motive and the same will happen at Chelsea.”
“His problem is that he only cares about results, and for him, they are more important than his players.”
