Tottenham Hotspur collected a valuable three points on Monday evening having slayed Sunderland 5-1 to increase their total point haul after 33 games to 59 points, two ahead of Manchester United in seventh place but four behind Everton in fifth.
Considering the state in which Spurs found themselves in at the very end of Andre Villas Boas' tenure and how Sherwood has managed to turn the form around whilst operating in a pressure-filled environment where his future is constantly question, Tottenham have performed admirably - even more so when one considers that, in the 17 matches Sherwood has bossed, he has accumulated 32 points; three more than Arsene Wenger at Arsenal during the same time-span.
Regardless, Sherwood's future is a constant source of speculation, as is who would succeed him should he leave the managerial hot-seat. Some Lilywhite fans, for instance, were seen wearing Tottenham shirts with Louis van Gaal's name on the back!
As for the performance against Sunderland, Paulinho and Harry Kane both received social media commendation, yet it is Christian Eriksen, who scored the club's fourth, who has attracted the most praise, particularly as he now can brag superior statistics for the season to Arsenal's club record signing Mesut Ozil - yet Eriksen has played fewer minutes and cost £30m less…
Eriksen: "The feeling I have at the club isn't dependant on being in the CL, I'm happy here & am looking forward to the future." #THFC— Addicted to Spurs (@AddictedtoSpurs) April 8, 2014
Özil and eriksen have been involved in the same amount of league goals this season... Özil has played more minutes and cost £30m more #coys— Jacob (@Jake_Drew_) April 8, 2014
