Over on GamesPointsNow.com, it’s reported that the new Borderlands game is a “pre-sequel” for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC being released later this year.
The new game is to take place between the five year gap of Borderlands and Borderlands 2, and is to be set on the moon above Pandora. The next instalment will feature four new characters; the melee-focussed Athena; Wilhelm, who wields a shoulder-mounted cannon; as well as Nisha The Lawbringer and Fragtrap.
In an interview with Polygon earlier this year, CEO and President of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, said “We are not working on Borderlands 3.” Which, if these rumours of a “pre-sequel” are true, then Borderlands 3 not being a possibility right now isn’t untrue.
These are purely rumours right now, and nothing has yet been confirmed nor denied by Gearbox, but we’ll keep an eye out for any updates.
