News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.
Manchester United take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie with the reigning champions of Europe.
Manchester United have landed in Munich this afternoon ahead of manager David Moyes’ press conference.
In team news, Marouane Fellaini and Rafael will miss the game tomorrow as well as Jonny Evans, but Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney travelled to Munich with the squad hopeful of a return to full fitness.
Wayne Rooney was back in training today ahead of the clash with the Bavarians after concerns he could miss the game with a toe injury.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola described the clash as ‘life and death’.
"It's a final, a life or death match," Guardiola said, paying respect to United who he believes are one of the best teams in the world.
"They are one of the best teams in the world, but our away goal is very important even though 1-1 can be very dangerous."
Guardiola also described Wayne Rooney as one of the best he’s ever seen in his career. The Spanish coach has worked with the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Zlatan Imbrahimovic and rates the England No.10 as one of the world’s best.
"Rooney is going to play, 100 per cent. He is going to play, I bet you a big big glass of beer."
Guardiola described Rooney as: "a big player, one of the best I have seen in my career."
In transfer news, United remain linked with midfielder Ilkay Gundogan whom The Mirror suggests the Red Devils could acquire this summer for a ‘discount’ price from Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, the same source claims Toni Kroos has told ‘friends’ he is ready to move to Old Trafford.
However, Nani’s agent suggests the winger is ‘likely’ to leave Old Trafford this summer, despite signing a five-year contract in September last year to stay on.
"Nani is a very important player and at this time the only thing I can say is that he is likely to leave Manchester," Andrea Pastorello told Violanews.com.
