Manchester City latest: Keeper dismisses transfer talk; Pellegrini on one that got away

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been speaking about former Blues striker Daniel Sturridge, along with his hopes of discovering the next great young talent of English football.

In quotes published by the Manchester Evening News, the Chilean said of Sturridge’s City departure, “I don’t know the reason but I think he is a very good player.”

But of his own time at the club he said, “I think that we have worked well between the first-team and the academy. It’s very important for this group because they also believe in young players. For us, it’s very important the development of young players.”

Given the development of Patrick Vieira’s EDS team, that is clear, and only time will tell if the next Sturridge comes through the City ranks during Pellegrini’s reign.

In other news, Stevan Jovetic believes City will overcome Liverpool to claim the Premier League title.

In quotes published by the Daily Mail, the former Fiorentina forward said, “This squad has a lot of experience because we won the Premier League two years ago. We knew how to play and keep the pressure down.

“And I think Liverpool have more pressure. I think we are going to win.”

Either way, the winners of the weekend’s match are likely to go on and claim the title.

And finally, Talk Sport report that Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has quashed yesterday’s speculation that he would be sold to City.

My future is Inter,” the stopper said. “I do not contemplate an exit.”
